The Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin provides quality care for people afflicted with diseases of the nervous system at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, American Family Children’s Hospital, William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital and Meriter Hospital, and conducts research in basic and clinical neuroscience in the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Berry Funds – Nolan Berry Epilepsy Research and Education Fund (132580203)
Mary Pat and Chris Berry wish to support epilepsy research in memory of their son, Nolan. This Fund will support epilepsy research within the Department of Neurology.

Dreizin Funds – Ivy Dreizin Memorial Fund (112580375)
This Fund is being initiated by the Department of Neurology as a result of interest from department faculty in memory of Ivy Dreizin.

The purpose of this Fund is to provide support for outstanding learners to attend a neuro-ophthalmology conference and introduce those learners to neuro-ophthalmology topics.

Forster Funds – Francis M. Forster Epilepsy Education and Research Fund (132582982)
The purpose of this Fund is to support epilepsy education and research within the Department of Neurology. The spending authorities for this Fund shall be the Chair of the Department of Neurology and the Dean of the School of Medicine and Public Health.

Masten Funds – Mable Masten Post Graduate Fund for Neurology (132588391)
This Fund was set up with the proceeds of the Mabel G. Masten Revocable Trust which became payable to the Foundation in 1990 when the trust’s life tenant died and the trust terminated. The Masten fund will support a persons in postgraduate training in the field of neuropsychiatry, neurology or psychiatry.

Mathias Funds – Mathias Koch Fund (132586615)
The fund shall support research efforts conducted by the Department to better understand the effects of epilepsy and to seek new and innovative epilepsy treatments.

Matthews Funds – Charles G. Matthews Lecture Fund (132582296)
This fund was established at the request of the Department of Neurology with contributions from interested alumni and friends to honor the memory of Dr. Charles G. Matthews, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Neurology. This fund will support a distinguished speaker who will present an annual lecture to the UW Neuroscience community on a topic involving human neuropsychology.

Schutta Funds – Henry S. Schutta, MD Lectureship Fund (132580340)
The Fund is being established by Mark Schutta, MD in memory of his father, Henry Schutta, MD, who was the third chair of the UW-Madison Department of Neurology (1980-1995).

The purpose of this Fund will be to bring outstanding individuals from outside the UW-Madison community to the academic campus. These individuals should present lectures of a broad and interdisciplinary nature or of current interest in special areas not ordinarily available to UW-Madison.

ALS Research Fund (112583813)
This fund was established at the request of the Department of Neurology to support general ALS research and education within the department.

Movement Disorders and Parkinson’s Disease Research and Education Fund (132583823)
The purpose of the fund is to support research and program activities related to Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.

Multiple Sclerosis Research Fund (132586617)
The purpose of this fund is to support the research efforts conducted by the University of Wisconsin Department of Neurology for basic and clinical investigations to better understand and treat multiple sclerosis; a major cause of disability in young adults.

Neuromuscular Research Fund (12586616)
Contributions to the Neuromuscular Research Fund will support the research efforts conducted by the University of Wisconsin, Department of Neurology, to help diagnose and treat patients with a wide variety of muscles and nerve disease, including patients with ALS.

Neurology Research and Education Fund (132584970)
The purpose of this fund is to provide discretionary support to the Department including, but not limited to, support for neurological research and education.

Stroke Research and Education Fund (13283701)
This fund was set up by the Department of Neurology with various memorials for Sverre Peter Roang who was treated by Dr. Newman within the Department of Neurology. The purpose of the fund is to support stroke research and education within the Department.
