UW Health neurologists offer comprehensive consultation, evaluation, clincal diagnostic studies and treatment of neurological disorders in adults.

Clinical services include the following areas:

  • epilepsy
  • movement disorders
  • Parkinson's disease
  • multiple sclerosis
  • muscular dystrophy and other muscle diseases
  • motor neuron disease
  • peripheral neuropathies
  • stroke
  • chronic pain disorders
  • sleep disorders
  • cancer affecting the nervous system
  • swallowing disorders
  • memory and cognitive problems
  • Alzheimer's disease
  • spine and disc diseases
  • headache
  • tremor and movement disorders

Diagnostic services include electroencephalography, electromyography and evoked potentials, imaging (MRI, CT, X-ray and positron emission tomography carotoid duplex scanning (Doppler).

UW Health Neuropsychologists in the Charles Matthews Laboratory provide comprehensive neuropsychological examinations to assess the brain and cognitive/behavioral dysfunction.

Treatments are now available for many neurological diseases and conditions, and can include medical drug therapies, immune modulatry therapies, surgical procedures and deep brain stimulation which are provided in subspecialty and general neurology clinics..

UW Health Neurologists are engaged in clinical research in areas including:

  • amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neuromuscular diseases
  • stroke
  • epilepsy
  • headache
  • multiple sclerosis
  • the effects on neurological diseases on cognition and memory
